We had a lovely lazy Sunday. The weather was so beautiful that we played in the back yard. Of course Violet had to pick a lemon or two.

Domestic Goddess
Mommy, are you sure you know what you're doing?
Visions of perfectly golden brown cookies filled my head as I tidied the kitchen. I would take some to the spa tomorrow on a pretty little plate to offer to clients. Everyone would marvel at my abilities. The timer alerted with a beep! beep! beep!. I turned towards the oven and .....uh, oh. There was smoke streaming out of the door. Crap. This is what I ended up with.
Apparently I had somehow hit the temperature dial on the oven and turned it to almost 500 degrees! Brilliant. So, Violet and I took an opportunity to play outside while the smoke cleared. I am glad to report that the second batch came out much better! Not enough to share with clients, but Buddy was happy!

My First Mother's Day
This is the delicious breakfast I got to have this morning. I told Buddy that I didn't like french toast and he replied "you haven't tried mine". That is usually his response and he is always right. It was absolutely delicious. Also he is the best card picker-outer ever. The three of us spent the morning together and then unfortunately Buddy had to go to work. Violet and I had a great time hanging out all day in our jammies.

Puffy Cereal is the Answer
Violet was starting to show interest in feeding herself. The results were messy and completely stressful for me. I was so worried that she was going to choke on anything thicker than a puree. One of my clients told me that she likes these little puffy cereals that dissolve in the baby's mouth. They are perfect. Violet has so much fun eating and um, wearing these.
Good Morning
Your crying slowly pulls me from a swirl of dreams. I sit up and daddy asks if I want him to get you. Yes. What time is it? Four. He rescues you from your crib and brings you to our bed. You grunt with impatience. You are hungry. I nurse you and as we cuddle you softly kick your leg and pat me with your hand. So cozy. I could stay like this for hours.Your kicks become stronger and I begin to realize that this will not be one of those mornings where you fall back to sleep. Uhg. Why not? We are so comfy. You flip over on to your hands and knees and give me a big grin. Oh, no.
So we're up. We go to the living room where you cling to me. I take a deep breath and smell your sweet smell, kiss your soft hair. You look at your toys. You look at me. You look at your toys again and then wiggle to be let down. Soft fuzzy blocks, your hair brush, books, a plastic tea cup all get to take turns being played with by you. Lucky toys. You are happy to play by yourself as long as I stay right here. You check frequently to make sure that I do. I think of all of the things that need to be done. Dishes, laundry, but I know if I get up you will follow me and I wont get much of anything done. So I'll stay right here and play with you and when you're ready for your your morning nap I will be too.

Happy 90th!
My grandmother is the most beautiful person I know. I can't discribe how happy it makes me that my daughter gets to know her.
We celebrated grandma's 90th birthday this weekend. Food, cake, family....perfect.
