Violet's First Birthday

It has been one crazy, exhaustingly wonderful year! We had a small party to celebrate Violet's first year.



The cake and cupcakes came out just like I had imagined. Simple and beautiful.

Buddy baked both chocolate and yellow cake. Our friend Diane make the violet flowers for us.

Violet had fun opening presents. Of corse she thought the wrapping was just as good as the gifts!

Her first baby doll from Grandma Vi.

To save the pretty party dress that Grandma Joy got her I decided to change Violet into this little polka-dotted number.

A Day at the Beach

Last week we took Violet to the beach for the first time. It was beautifully warm and sunny in Capitola.


So many new sights and sounds.

Toes in the water.

While sitting close to daddy she explored the feel of sand with her hands and feet.

Before you knew it she was completely comfortable playing on the beach. I would build...

...and she would demolish!

Lunch time in her private cabana.

The sunlight shone through the towel casting a pinkish glow while the sound of the waves drowned out distractions. Even though we were surrounded by others it felt almost as if we were alone. She dozed off and on and laughed as she grabbed my nose.
